In July 1991, MMAL introduced an elite version under its own name Mitsubishi Verada with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, the series received the designation KR. Magna and Verada had one body, although the latter featured a unique grille and larger bumpers for exporting models in the US, as well as luxury accessories. The installed 3.0-liter V6 from the family “Cyclone” was code-named 6G72. Its characteristics ranged from 120 kW (160 hp) at 5500 rpm and 235 Nm at 4000 rpm on the AI-91 to 124 kW (169 hp) at 5500 rpm and 244 N * m at 3000 rpm on the AI-95. The automatic transmission was used with four- and six-cylinder engines, it was equipped with the original electronic control system INVECS (“Intelligent & Innovative Vehicle Electronic Control System”) of the first generation.

In Australia, due to the recession in the early 1990s and rising oil prices, the six-cylinder Magna was not produced. Finally, in 1993, with the restoration of the economy and the stabilization of oil prices, the V6 engine was offered for the Magna for the first time and then as an option. This 3.0-liter V6 was only available in the Executive package, which was also equipped with larger 15-inch wheels and other interior trim. A small “V6” icon on the trunk lid featured a six-cylinder model.

At the time of the launch of the TR series, Magna came in Executive sedan, SE sedan, and Elite trim levels. Verada with the V6 Ei pickup engine was ready at about the same level as the SE Magna, except that the air conditioning was standard. The top-end equipment Verada Xi also includes light alloy wheels, central locking, climate control, cruise control, high-quality audio system, steering wheel with cruise control and audio system, power windows, electrically adjustable driver’s seat. In addition, Xi could be equipped with an electronically controlled suspension with four-band adjustable shock absorbers and adjustable pneumatic elements in addition to the standard springs. This system automatically adjusts the rigidity of the suspension in proportion to road conditions, speed and driving style. It also became possible to equip the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and driver’s airbag for the first time on both Veradas trim levels.

General information

Chevrolet Motor Division, the leading branch of the concern “General Motors”, specializing in the production of passenger cars, pick-up trucks and SUVs.

The headquarters is in Warren, a northern suburb of Detroit, Michigan.

History of the Corporation

Chevrolet Motor Car was founded in 1911 by the founder of General Motors, William Durant. Having ceased to manage “General Motors”, he vigorously created new companies. Being basically a businessman rather than an engineer, before leaving General Motors, Durant took with him a promising and interesting development of the car, on improvement of which he invited to work the popular racer Louis Chevrolet, who gave the new company his famous sonorous name.

The first model, the Classic Six, is a spacious five-seat sedan with a six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 30 horsepower, with electric lighting, four doors, a convertible top, a windshield, and in addition, a personal set of tools, was introduced in 1912. The car was so successful that it was produced before 1922, and gave life to the no less famous model of “Superior”, which existed until 1927. It was with the 490th model that the specialization of Chevrolet began on the cheapest and simple cars that brought it worldwide fame.

In 1917, the company has its own engine, a V-shaped 8-cylinder, but at that time it did not find enough demand. Dynamic, diverse and well-sold Chevrolet models brought financial success to Durant who managed to regain control over General Motors and in 1918 joined the company Chevrolet, whose products for many years became an ornament of the production range of the corporation.

Engineers and designers of Chevrolet have done a lot for the development of the world automotive industry. In this department in 1923 the first car equipped with an air-cooled engine was produced.

Since 1950, the company has begun to apply automatic transmissions on its models.

In 1953, Chevrolet produces the first Corvette (Corvette) car with a fiberglass body, which is regarded as the first attempt to create a purely American sports car equipped with a modernized Chevrolet engine with a working volume of 3.8 liters and an automatic transmission, “Corvette”, but did not find demand, but the model saved its equipment with a new V-shaped 8-cylinder engine and the modernization of the frame in 1955. In addition, the old automatic transmission was replaced by a mechanical one.

Since 1956, the “Corvette” becomes a real sports car, whose power reaches 290 hp to 1961 “283 Corvette” with fuel injection has reached 315 hp and was dispersed from a place to 100 km / h for 5,5 seconds.

The revival of the legendary Chevrolet Camaro oil car occurred in March 2009, when the mass production of the fifth generation of a coupe was started on the GM conveyor in Oshawa. And two years later, in January 2011, the plant began assembling the Camaro Convertible – a convertible with a soft top. Due to lack of production capacities, export versions of the model appeared only in November 2011, and the car went to the Russian market in April next year.

The manufacturer has prepared a number of updates for the new model year: in the basic equipment Chevrolet Camaro 2012 is offered with a 3.6-liter petrol V6, the power of which increased to 323 hp. Coupled with a 6-speed “automatic” this engine is able to accelerate the coupe to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds, with mechanics – for 0.5 s faster. At the same time, fuel consumption remains relatively small – according to the manufacturer, it does not exceed 7.4 liters in the mode of the route.

In turn, the charged version of the Chevrolet Camaro 2012 SS is equipped with an 8-cylinder engine, a volume of 6.2 liters and a power of 426 hp, Brembo brakes and an improved suspension. In February 2011 at the Chicago Motor Show was presented the fastest of the road modifications of the oil car – the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with a 6.2-liter power unit. Thanks to the use of the drive supercharger Eaton, the engine power was raised to 580 hp, and the torque – up to 670 Nm.

In addition to the power unit, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 2012 is equipped with a reinforced mechanical 6-speed box Tremec TR-6060 or automatic transmission HydraMatic. Another important difference from the SS version was the adaptive Magnetic Ride suspension, a high efficiency brake system designed in cooperation with Brembo engineers, and 20-inch wheels.

In the Russian dealer centers, the new Chevrolet Camaro 2012 model year is offered in the coupe and in two trim levels – 2LT and 2SS. Already in the minimum configuration, customers get a rear-view camera with a projection of the image to the salon mirror, an acoustic system from Boston Acoustics with nine speakers, as well as a full set of electric adjustments for the front seats, xenon headlights and 6 airbags.

At the end of 2013 Camaro fifth generation underwent restyling. The coupe received a new narrow radiator grille, a new front and rear optics. Slightly modified bumper and hood, supplemented with a list of additional equipment.

The rear part got a new model from the previous version of Captiva practically without changes, except for the transparent diffusers of the rear lamps.

Steel frame with zones of programmed deformation, absorbing impact energy, front and side airbags, curtain airbags (in some versions), as well as three-point seat belts with pretensioners provided the car with high performance following crash tests by the independent organization Euro NCAP.

In addition, the safety of the ride is provided by the presence of active safety systems: anti-slip ABS brakes with electronic brake force distribution EBV, dynamic ESC stabilization system, hydraulic brake booster HBA and active roll-over protection system ARP.

In addition to South Korea, Chevrolet Captiva manufactures factories in Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. In addition, the model is sold in Australia and New Zealand under the brand Holden Captiva.

Chevrolet Cobalt – a compact car, produced from 2004 to 2010 in North America. Since 2011, the car of the same name, oriented to the markets of developing countries, has been produced, but has nothing in common with the first generation.

The first series

Originally, this index produced an American compact car, introduced in 2004 and 2005 model years, replacing the models Cavalier and Prizm.

Cobalt of the first series was produced with coupe and sedan bodies and was based on GM Delta platform together with such cars as Chevrolet HHR and Saturn Ion.
